24 week Belly Pictures

12:13:00 PM Posted In , , , Edit This 3 Comments »

Okay so I'm almost 26 weeks, which makes these pictures a little late. But I've been fighting with my camera and my laptop (apparently they still aren't on speaking terms - I don't know why) so now is when they are getting posted. :) lol

You can't really see my belly in this picture but I just love it!

A more recent belly bump with Elliott Richard. He just loves my belly! When he saw us taking belly pictures, he had to get involved.

I love how we are looking at each other while holding Tiny within my belly.

And here's the actual belly picture for the 24th week. :)

I'm not sure it does justice to the size of my belly. Of course, it feels much larger to me than it seems to appear to everyone else.

A Set of Bruises to Call My Own

12:08:00 PM Posted In , , , Edit This 0 Comments »

That's right, folks! For the low, low price of twice daily Heparin injections you too can have your very own set of Bruises!
Sadly enough, these are nothing compared to some of the bruises I was sporting during this period of Elliott Richard's pregnancy. I had one bruise from a nursing student that was easily the size of my closed fist! It was horrible! lol

Many Faces of Pregnancy at 24 weeks! :) lol

Relaxed

"Hello, Chipotle? Yes, I'd like to place an order. Yes, I need one of everything. And a large order of your nacho chips."

Excited
"Yes, I'm sure about that order. No, I'm not having a party. No, I'm not feeding a herd of elephants. I'm pregnant and on bed rest. The only food this child wants is YOUR Mexican. Are you complaining!?"
Flabergasted
"It's going to be how much?! And you don't deliver?! Oh...come...on!"

Gift Basket!

6:41:00 PM Posted In , , , , Edit This 1 Comment »

Did you know that you can ship a gift basket? Well, you can! On Tuesday Rob and I returned home from my weekly Dr. D appointment there was a box on the porch. I was confused at first because the return address label said it was from a basket company but surely you can't ship baskets. Ha! I was wrong! :) Of course, it was much more beautifully put together before I pulled everything out. And of course it didn't occur to me in my excitement to take the picture first. (lol) Inside I found biscotti, a little green photo album, a scented candle (which Rob promptly scooped up and lit), a loofah, and scented bath oils and things. It's all incredibly relaxing. And I just love it!

Thank you so much, Slade's Mommy! :)

I *heart* surprises!

8:34:00 PM Posted In , , , , Edit This 2 Comments »

So over the weekend I received a pleasant surprise in the mail from my dear friend, Slade. I was so surprised and touched at her kindness. Rob was as well. This is Tiny's first official baby related baby gift. Rob and I haven't even had a chance to purchase anything specifically for Tiny. lol Her gift was so generous! She sent a green t-shirt for Gavin, which is his favorite color. He was so siked! She also sent the cutest set of pajamas for Elliott Richard that say "I like to collect bugs!", which are so fitting for our "Tiny Twitterbug". She also included two cards. One for me and one for Rob. (Poor Rob is so neglected these days.) He was so touched that she had remembered him, too. :) It was so cute when Elliott Richard became confused over the diapers. He couldn't figure out how we had diapers that weren't for him. lol And the penguin tubby-toy was intended for Tiny (Slade wrote "Tiny" on the package to clear up any confusion. lol), however, Elliott Richard felt it was his duty as the big brother to test it out. He approves. :) lol

Slade, thank you so very much! You truly are so a kind, generous and wonderful soul. I am lucky to have found you as a friend. *hugs*

(On a side and kind of funny note, I just ate one of the delicious Dove Dark Chocolates she sent me. For those of you who don't know, on the inside of each foil wrapper is a saying. The saying on my last chocolate said, "You're allowed to do nothing." lol If only they knew.)

April's Craftiness

2:44:00 PM Posted In , , , , Edit This 2 Comments »
That's right folks, poo on the nay-sayers! (as Beth and Julie put it) I am going to post pictures of my care packages! :)

In this lovely package from April, I received a handmade blue and gray blanket for Tiny and two magazines for me. :) I just love this blanket! It is super, duper soft and snuggly. I can't wait to use it for Tiny.

And before the rumors start, blue is my favorite color. April and I have known each other for years and she knows this. Sorry folks, no hints at Tiny's sex here. ;)

If you like April's craftiness, she has a whole Etsy store full of crafty things she and her friend have made. Go take a gander! :)

*Tapes eyelids open*

2:21:00 PM Posted In , , , , , Edit This 0 Comments »
I'm fighting to stay awake. Literally. At this point I'm even considering taping my eyelids open. (Hense the title. lol) That is the only reason I am posting this now - to stay awake. (I apologize if this makes little to no sense.) Elliott Richard is anti-nap today and Rob is really struggling. So I need to stay awake. Here's the run down of Day...what is it now, 33?

I slept horribly last night. Elliott did not want to go to sleep last night. Then when he finally fell asleep at 10pm (2 hrs past his bed time) he didn't want to stay asleep. I was up with him every 10 minutes for about an hour before I cried uncle. Rob then brought Elliott to bed and the only way Elliott could find to be comfortable was with this head on my butt/hips. I woke up at about 3am in excruciating pain from sleeping in a contorted position. I tried to shift positions and get more comfortable. No luck.

So I woke up this morning with a migraine from lack of sleep and a horrible backache from sleeping funky. I killed the migraine with my medications. I can't seem to get rid of the backache for anything.

Then I spent the morning taking picutres and uploading them and whatnot. Which was a pain in the butt because my digital camera and laptop seem to be upset with each other. So that's been a struggle in and of itself. As soon as I'm finished and everything is all organized I'll post a bunch of picture posts/blogs.

The insurance company called. They are claiming that we should have had someone out here and had "The Leak" fixed within 3 days. If they come out and find mold, mildew, rotting etc. they won't pay for anything. She wanted to know why when we found the issue we didn't have it fixed on the spot rather than playing phone tag with our insurance agent. I would like to strangle this woman. Maybe because we aren't made of money? (Gasp!) Or because we thought this is exactly the type of situation that we've been paying for home owners for? (The nerve!) Or because we thought home owner's would cover it, we wanted to make sure we did things "the right way"? (How dare we!) Maybe we waiting because we didn't know what the heck to do? (Can you imagine?) Ooooo...I'm just so irritated right now. (I'd be angrier if I could stay awake and keep my eyes open. lol)

As much as I like our insurance agent, I hate State Farm's claims adjusters. It almost feels like when they look for claims adjusters, they advertise looking for the rudest, meanest people with the world's shortest tempers. (Nice, compassionate people need not apply.) I have yet to have a kind claims adjuster while dealing with State Farm.

Okay, now I'm so exhausted my eyes burn. Rob is on the phone with Uncle Rick and pacing. Oh to have a nap...*sigh*

Bed Rest ~ Day 30

I had an appointment with Dr. D yesterday. It went really well. I got there. They
weighed me (some how I managed to gain another pound in less than a day - without the aid of cheesecake!). And we did all the fun pregnancy tests (different from the "pregnancy test" where you pee on a stick lol) and measurements.

Appointment Stats:
Weight: 179 lb
Tiny's Heartrate: 143 bpm
Fundal height: 25 cm

Then a med student/resident (whatever) came in asked me a few questions. Starting with "So things appear to be going well." I kind of looked at him and cocked my left eyebrow up (which I do when I'm confused or when I want to give someone my best "are you serious" look) and said, "Well, yeah things are fine. Unless of course you count the trip to L&D last night. Or the 3 contractions/hour since Sunday." At that point he started flipping through my chart (from the day before). I just love med students/residents who don't take the time to read the chart before they come in. *eye roll* lol

Dr. D, the med student/resident (whatever!) and Val (one of my favorite nurses) came in a few minutes later. Dr. D said that our next goal is 28 weeks because we have a 60% chance of survival right now. At 28 weeks we have a 100% chance of survival. So 28 weeks is our new 40 weeks. (Kind of like 30 is the new 40 or whatever. lol) For now, that's our goal.

Lisa just left a little while ago. It was a pretty standard appointment. Although for some reason this shot burned like mad when she was done!!! I can't even lay on my left side it burns so bad. I'm not sure why because she didn't do anything different and I haven't had this problem with any of the other injections. *shrug* I have an appointment with Dr. D in an hour and a half and I still need to take a quick shower so here are the morning stats:

BP: 110/70
Tiny's Heartrate: 143 bpm

***Side note: Blogger isn't liking this Opera internet browser Rob put on my laptop. So if my blogs are all wonky and formatted wrong, take it up with Opera or Rob. You're pick. ;) lol ***

Bed Rest ~ Day 28

9:10:00 PM Posted In , , , , , Edit This 2 Comments »
I guess I jinxed myself with that post yesterday.

Since yesterday morning I've been having 3 contractions an hour consistantly. Meaning I don't have more than 3 an hour but I have 3/hour every hour. Some of them even woke me up last night.

So then today I was talking to one of Dr. D's nurses about my Heparin (we had a heck of a time finding it for my refill) and I asked her about them. More out of curiosity than concern because I figured I wasn't having 4-6/hour so I was okay. Well, she talked to Kelli, the nurse practioner, and they wanted me to come in.

My mom met us at Dr. D's office and picked up Elliott Richard. I went in and they weighed me (we won't go there! lol) and all that good fun stuff. Then came time for the NST (non-stress test). I had 2 contractions about 15-20 minutes apart. But
before the contractions were even registered Kelli talked to Dr. D and he said for me
to go straight to L&D.

Of course, once in L&D I was still having contractions only they weren't showing up on the monitor the way they were at Dr. D's office. *sigh* They monitored us for a while and ran some tests. The big test being my fFN, which was negative. (Yay!) So that means we should have another 2 weeks before going into preterm labor.

I have a regular appointment with Dr. D in the morning and my medications are all kicking in so I'm going to get to bed now.

Thank you so much for the prayers and positive thoughts!

If you are interested, here are the stats from the day:

Dr. D's Office
Weight: 178 lb (that's what 1 - 8 inch Junior's cheesecake does! lol)
Tiny's Heartrate: 133 bpm via NST

L&D
Weight: 175 lb (I love the variations between scales. lol)
Tiny's Heartrate: 143 bpm
BP: 100/61

It's been a quiet weekend. I'm struggling to get enough sleep and to simply get comfortable when I'm awake. Gavin was home all weekend and things went really well. There were even a few moments when Elliott Richard was able to interact with Gavin without a major issue. It was nice.

Generosity

4:03:00 PM Posted In , , , , Edit This 1 Comment »
I have been posting pictures of each and every gift and care/sanity package I have been blessed enough to receive. However, upon consideration I am coming across in manner I had not wished to. Anyone who knows me, knows it was never my intention to come across as seeking gifts. I am simply very grateful and I live my life as an open book. I was merely trying to express my gratitude.

I am posting this so that you know, I am very grateful and in the process of making thank you cards for each and every one of you.

I've seen some people leave truly ugly comments on other blogs because gifts were shared with everyone. And I don't want anyone to feel that I'm asking for more. I'm grateful for everything I've received. :)

So please know, that I am very grateful and I feel very blessed to have each and every one of you involved in our lives.

Thanks! :)

***Side note: this blog/post has been changed from it's original form. Originally I asked for opinions as to whether or not it is tacky for me to post pictures of my care packages/gifts. The only comment this post received was in response to that blog. Not the one you find above. I have closed comments to this post because I am not looking to start a war here. :) That is all.***

Speechless...

12:31:00 PM Posted In , , , , , Edit This 4 Comments »
I have this blog I've been working over in my head and I was trying to type this morning. About how overwhelmed I am. How I feel as if I'm failing in everything I do. How it just isn't enough.

Then, in that special way she seems to have, I receive mail from April. I'm sitting here crying because she wrote me a beautiful letter (it's okay that you typed it - I love it just the same!), two magazines and a beautiful handmade blanket. (Pictures are coming!)

April, thank you! Thank you for somehow knowing just what to say and do. Thank you for being you.

I'm just so touched by the support I'm receiving from everyone. The care packages, the cheesecakes, the handmade gifts...it's all so wonderful. I can't wait to tell Tiny how much love and support we received during this difficult pregnancy. I'm so excited that Gavin and Elliott Richard are able to see the unconditional love and support of friends. So few people are able to witness these things these days. And the fact that my sons get to see it on a regular basis...it's one of the best lessons they'll ever learn. Thank you for helping me to make that lesson available to them. Thank you for each and every thing you've done for us. Your prayers. Your positive thoughts. Your emails and comments. I cherish each and every one of them.

From the bottom of my heart, to each and every one of you, thank you.

This is a public service announcement...

I am pregnant. I am grumpy. And I'm just plain not in the mood.

If you email me and I don't email you back one of a few things happened...

*either I didn't get the email.
*I didn't feel I had anything intelligent to say in response. (That's not me saying your email wasn't intelligent. That's me saying I couldn't come up with a response that didn't sound completely lame so I just didn't respond.)
*I'm just not in the mood to respond right now.
If you call me and I don't call you back one of a few things happened...

*I forgot to call you back. (Sorry, it happens. I'm only human.)
*I'm just not in the mood to call anyone right now.
If you have called, emailed or otherwise sent me smoke signals and I haven't not responded...
*It is not personal.
*I'm not trying to hurt your feelings.
*I'm not avoiding you personally.
*Odds are I'm avoiding life in general and that just so happens to include you..."life in general" is a rather broad scope afterall.
If you send me a care package, watch my children, make/bring me food or otherwise do some random act of kindness for me...please know that...

*I appreciate each and everything that has been done for me.
*I'm trying to send thank you cards but I prefer to make them myself and that takes more energy than I have at the moment.
*I don't expect you to do anything for me, however, I'm very grateful that you have.

If you are eyeing my cheesecake...

*I assure you that the calories are good for Tiny and myself. (The more I eat the more Tiny gains and a fat Tiny is a healthier Tiny should a premature birth take place.)
*I can also assure you that I am doing my best to balance the cheesecake with healthy foods like fruit and veggies.
*Unless you are my mommy, go eye someone else's Junior's cheesecake. :P

Hopefully this public service announcement will help to clear up any misconceptions out there.

Goodies, goodies everywhere!

10:18:00 AM Posted In , , , , Edit This 2 Comments »
The mailman is probably trying to figure out why and how I became so popular virtually overnight! lol But I don't care what the mailman thinks because I've GOT GOODIES! :)

I received another care package from my Due Date Buddy Merrilee. (I have a few due date buddies for those who are confused by frequent referral to them all. :) lol)

Here's the first bunch of goodies: strawberry sour punch straws, a pretty green bag filled with different chocolates, Nicholas Sparks - "A Bend in the Road", and the white rectangle is a battery powered fire engine toothbrush. Elliott Richard was very happy to take the toothbrush off my hands. lol Now he's obsessed with brushing his teeth! If we let him, he would allow us to brush them all day long. lol

More goodies! :)

We've got the books (I need to go take a better inventory.) which includes Lipstick Jungle, Trading Up, With This Ring and a few others I can't read/don't remember at the moment (Sorry.). In front we've got the candy - Reisens, the Sour Punch Straws, a Hershey's Cookies and Cream candybar and my little bag of chocolates. (You guys should have seen the look on Rob's face when he saw the Reisens! lol) You can also see Elliott's prized toothbrush next to the strawberry sour punch straws. :) Next to the toothbrush are some perfume samples. :)

And here we have the last of the goodies that Merrilee sent me. Yum. Yum. Yummy. Luckily she sent two packs of Riesens because Rob ate one pack himself. lol He was excited to see the Mamba's too. I've never had them before but they're really good. Kind of like softer starburst. :)

Thank you, Merrilee!

24 weeks

9:51:00 AM Posted In , , , , , , Edit This 0 Comments »
What Tiny is busy doing this week: This is another big week for your magical growing baby! Just take a look at the checklist for this week: 1) ears: done; 2) fingernails: done; 3) (if you have a boy) testicles: taking their 3-4 day trip from the abdominal wall to the scrotum; and 4) lungs walls: secreting “surfactant”. What’s that? Well, surfactant is sort of what it sounds like: a surface-activated fat whose main purpose is to assist the your baby's little lungs during inflation (as in, filling with air, not getting more expensive). Just in case you’re curious, your submerged baby is still breathing in amniotic fluid, preparing and rehearsing the lungs an oxygen-filled life outside the womb. By the end of this week, your child will be weighing around 2 lbs and 14 inches long. Your cutie-patootie may even be a little more plump, but isn't anywhere near their full baby-fatted cute-self. Most of the “filling out” is coming up in that long awaited (and slightly dreaded?) third trimester. Woo-hoo! Get ready!

Well aside from the usual daytime hobbies of kicking mom, sucking thumbs, kicking mom some more and napping. lol We're almost in the third trimester now...Now we just bake, bake, bake and pack on the pounds. That's why the cheesecake (that my mother so graciously keep trying to save me from) is so important. It keeps me happy, sure. But it will also help me to pack on some pounds to Tiny. The bigger Tiny is at birth the best chances Tiny has at life outside of the "kiddie pool". It shouldn't be too difficult to get Tiny to pack on the pounds. Gavin weighed 8 lb 15 oz at birth - 4 days overdue. Elliott Richard weighed 7 lb 8 oz at birth - 4 weeks early. So I only make big babies. Hopefully this will hold true for Tiny as well.

I'm having a lot of contractions and cramping today. So I'm going to go watch some "mommy TV" and count the contractions to see if I should be calling Dr. D or not. Luckily Elliott Richard loves the baby shows I record because I can only take so many Noggin shows before I start to feel my sanity quickly draining away. lol

Bed Rest ~ Day 25

9:01:00 AM Posted In , , , Edit This 1 Comment »
Another day, another...well, day. lol

Rob let me sleep in for a little bit again today. Then I had two pieces of cherry crumb cheesecake for breakfast. That's right, I said 2 pieces! :) At this rate, Tiny is going to be huge by the time it's all said and done. lol

Now I'm just hanging out. Watching television. Getting ready to work on pregnancy journals and whatnot. Which is so much easier now that I have my lap desk. It also makes life with my incredibly hot laptop much easier.

I'm just in a grumpy mood today. Something just feels...off and funky. I hate days like this. I can't very well call Dr. D and say, "Hey, guys. I'm contracting but no more than usual but I just feel funky and off." There's nothing that can be done about funky and off. *sigh* I think today is just going to be one of those grumpy, hormonal, pregnant kind of days.

Bed Rest ~ Day 24

4:49:00 PM Posted In , , , , , Edit This 3 Comments »
Today started out so well. Ah well, all good things must come to an end eventually I suppose.

I've got a horrible, raging migraine. One of those migraines that cause your eyes to water and blur. It sucks.

Elliott Richard is in a "terrible two's" mood today. Everything is "no", "I don't know", "why" etc. It's a good thing he's so cute or I'd be calling the nearest group of gypsies to come and pick him up! lol

Gavin is doing well. He's hanging out at Grandma and Grandpa G's until Grandma W comes to pick him up sometime in the next hour. He's huge into writing letters right now. Problem is that he keeps writing letters to my ex-husband (Gavin's biological father) asking why they don't want to see him anymore and why they won't do their homework. (When Gavin asked why Nick and Pam (Nick's mom) stopped coming we told him that they had homework that needed to be finished before they could see him again. The "homework" being the paperwork that needed filled out at the visitation location.) We tried to explain to him that we don't know where he lives, because we don't. He was upset at first. Then we explained that he could write letters to me and I would write him back and mail them to Grandma G's and Grandma W's for him. Now all is right with the world again. *sigh*

I don't know if it's the migraine, my migraine meds or just "mommy brain" but my memory is completely shot today. I am trying to fill in my new pregnancy journal but I keep screwing up the dates. This journal is going to end up equal parts ink and white out. *sigh*

Then to add salt to the wounds of the day, I've been contracting pretty regularly today. Nothing timable but they are definitely stirred up over something. *sigh* I think I'll go and try and figure out some dinner now. (Is it wrong that Elliott is eating cold mac & cheese? It was hot but he wasn't interested in it then. It just seems wrong that he's eating cold. I don't know why.)

A morning FULL of deliciousness!!!!

8:20:00 AM Posted In , , , , , Edit This 3 Comments »
Yum. Yum. Yummy.

It is 8:21am here. This has been my morning full of deliciousness...

Elliott Richard slept through the night! This does not happen very often but when it does my body, mind and soul are very grateful.

Rob got up with Elliott Richard and allowed me an extra hour of sleep.

I checked Nate's blog to find that while I was sleeping through the night for the first time in ages, Tricia's surgery was a complete success and she is currently in recovery with her new lease on life!

I was able to start my morning with a slice of chocolate ganache Junior's cheesecake. Absolutely heavenly. Even Elliott Richard is par-taking in the deliciousness.

So now, tell me those aren't the makings of a delicious morning. :)

I'd just like to say...

10:11:00 PM Posted In , , , , Edit This 4 Comments »
That Junior's cheesecake is AMAZING!

Oh.my.gosh!

I did in fact have it for dinner and I'm thinking of having another small piece for a snack.

Yum. Yum. Yummy!

Ah...true love...
